The Siena College women's lacrosse team fell to the University at Albany, 12-5, Saturday evening at Union College. The non-conference match-up drops the Saints to 2-6 on the season while the Great Danes improved to 3-4 overall.
UAlbany scored the first three goals of the evening, courtesy of one from Alexis DiDomenico and a pair of tallies from Sarah Spillett before Christina Pampalone answered for Siena scoring all three of her goals for the game to knot the score at 3-3 with 11:45 remaining in the first half.
UAlbany put away four more tallies while holding the Saints to just one as the Great Danes went into halftime with a 7-4 lead.
UAlbany opened up the second half with four unanswered goals to increase their lead to 11-4 with 12:08 left on the clock. Stephanie Petruccelli stopped the Great Dane run as she found the back of the net for Siena for an 11-5 score, but the Saints could not stage a comeback as UAlbany put one last goal in before the game's end and walked away with the 12-5 victory.
UAlbany outshot Siena 30-16 while the Saints held the advantage in draw controls, 10-9.
Pampalone led Siena with her hat trick. DiDomenico and Spillett shared game-high goal scoring honors, netting four goals each.
Siena's Mary-Elizabeth Dupelle recorded 10 saves in the loss while Manhattan's Jen Daly stopped seven shots in the win.
