LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - 13 Siena women's soccer players were recognized by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference as postseason awards were made official tonight for the 2005 season. The postseason awards are voted on by the league's head coaches and All MAAC Academic team selections require student athletes' cumulative grade point average to be 3.20 or higher with at least two semesters completed.
The Saints landed a representative on the All MAAC First Team, three on the Second Team and a representative on the All Rookie Team. Siena also had 10 student athletes selected for the All Academic Team.
Senior Corry Silon was selected by the coaches to the All MAAC First Team. The Rockville Centre, N.Y., native started in all 19 games for the Green and Gold recording three assists while firing nine shots on goal this season. The tri-captain has 19 points in her career with 11 assists to her credit.
Siena had three players named to the All MAAC Second team, junior Kristen Turner, and sophomores Amy Loughridge and Katie Goodwin. Turner led the team in points (22) and was tied for the team high in goals (9) this season. The Wappingers Falls, N.Y., native now has 64 points in her career and eight game winning goals. Loughridge recorded five assists on her way to nine points this season and was named MAAC Offensive player of the Week once (9/26/05). The Guilderland, N.Y., native has nine assists and has two game winners in her two seasons wearing the Green and Gold. This is her second straight appearance on the All MAAC Second Team. Goodwin started in all 19 games on defense netting a game winner and dishing out two assists. The Valley Stream, N.Y., native follows up her All MAAC Rookie Team selection last season with a nod to the All MAAC Second Team this year.
Freshman Patti Carroll was acknowledged for her work between the pipes for the Saints this season by being selected to the All MAAC Rookie Team. The Middle Grove, N.Y., native started in 11 of 13 games she played in this season with a 1.87 goals against average. Carroll led the team with 53 saves on the year.
The MAAC also announced the All Academic team which consisted of 76 student athletes from the 10 league schools. Siena was represented by 10 women's soccer players this season. Seniors Anna Revette (DeRuyter, N.Y.) and Alicia Lackey (Niskayuna, N.Y.), juniors Erin Morine (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) and Brandie Petrie (Gansevoort, N.Y.), and sophomores Susie Blaisdell (Exeter, N.H.), Katie Goodwin, Amy Loughridge, Chelsea Maguire (Ballston Lake, N.Y.), Madeline Rickard (Otisville, N.Y.) and Kara Sefcik (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) round out the Saints contingent.
The Saints finished the season with a 10-8-1 record and a 6-2-1 mark in the conference. The Green and Gold were ranked third in the MAAC Tournament and were defeated 2-0 by Marist in the Quarterfinal Round in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
