LOUDONVILLE, NY--Siena College women's soccer freshman Patti Carroll (Middle Grove, N.Y./Galway) was selected the MAAC's Defensive Player of the Week after the Saints' goalie put up an impressive performance in Siena's season-opening 2-1 win over Colgate University.

Carroll, who plays goalie, allowed just one goal and collected eight saves in her collegiate debut as the Saints defeated the Raiders, who entered the game ranked fifth in the Northeast Region. Colgate was also receiving votes in the national women's soccer poll.

Carroll played all 90 minutes between the pipes.

The Saints return to action Saturday at 3:00 p.m. as they host Holy Cross.
