Haddix and Ubiles Sweep MAAC Weekly Honors

Dec. 11, 2006

Senior Michael Haddix and freshman Edwin Ubiles were named MAAC Player and Rookie of the Week respectively, as announced in the conference's official report released early this afternoon. The pair helped the Saints to a perfect 2-0 week, with MAAC wins over Niagara and Rider.

Haddix averaged 28 points and 7.5 rebounds while shooting 70% from the field on the week. He registered the team's first double-double of the season, scoring a career-high 29 points and grabbing 11 rebounds in Siena's 81-69 MAAC-opening win over Niagara. He followed that performance up with a 27-point effort in the team's eight-point win over Rider on Saturday.

Haddix sits just one point shy of 21st place on the school's all-time scoring charts with 1,216 career points. He is just 16 points away from tying Antoine Jordan in 20th place. Haddix has reached double figures in seven games this season and 67 times in his career.

Haddix's 18.2 points per game rank fifth in the MAAC and he sits atop the conference in field goal percentage (65%).

Ubiles averaged 16.6 points, six rebounds and 5.5 assists in the Saints' two MAAC wins. He stuffed the stat sheet with 14 points, five rebounds and eight assists in the team's win over Niagara. In the Rider win, he scored 19 points and pulled down seven rebounds.

Ubiles won the award for the third consecutive week. He has reached double figures in the Saints last six games after scoring just six points combined in the first two games of the season.

The Saints have won five of their last six games and three straight. The team is in the midst of a 13-day break for final exams. Siena returns to action December 23 at Buffalo at 2 p.m.
