Siena Water Polo Falls to Marist and Wagner

Staten Island, N.Y. - The Siena water polo team lost a pair of MAAC contests this afternoon, dropping its record to 6-21 overall, 0-6 MAAC. The Saints lost the first game to Marist College, 10-3 and the second game came at the hands of host Wagner College 11-5.

Freshman Lynn Whitmere and sophomore Caitlin Smith were the only players to score in the game against Marist. Whitmere lead the way with two goals and Smith added one, both players added an assist. Whitmere and classmate Erin Clune each recorded a block. Sophomore Kaedy Graves made three stops in the net.

Against Wagner, Whitmere attempted nine shots, connecting on two for goals, Smith also pitched in with two goals, along with Clune's one. The Saints managed to get on the board in each period, but it wasn't enough as Wagner pulled away in the second period notching four of the teams 11 goals for the win. As a team, the Saints managed to snatch 12 steals, led by sophomore Jeannette Ogren. Graves recorded nine saves in the loss.

The Saints will be back in action Sunday when they head to New Rochelle, N.Y. to take on St. Francis, NY and Iona 11:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., respectively.
