LOUDONVILLE, NY—Siena Water Polo head coach
Michael Ashe has announced the addition of six student-athletes for the 2027 season, bolstering the Saints roster with a blend of international experience, championship pedigree, and high-level club and scholastic success.
"We are very excited to have this incoming class of freshmen," said Ashe. "They are high achievers both in the classroom and in the pool. They have demonstrated incredible character throughout their careers and will be a welcome asset to the future of Siena Water Polo."
Charlotte Brereton | Center | Melbourne, Australia | Open Access College
Brereton joins Siena as a physical and proven center from Australia who brings extensive national-level experience. She has competed in national championship and Australian Youth Championship events and has represented both Victoria and South Australia annually at junior (U14 and above) and senior levels. Last season, she emerged as a leading scorer across multiple women's competitions, showcasing her ability to produce offensively from the center position. She has also been a consistent 6–8 Academy athlete since 2023, continuing her development within elite training environments.
Chloe Cogan | Goalie | Sydney, Australia | Brigidine College St Ives
Cogan arrives at Siena as one of Australia's top young goalkeepers, highlighted by selection to the Australian Youth Girls Water Polo Squad and participation in elite national training camps and sessions. She has been a mainstay in ACT representative water polo, serving as the starting goalkeeper for the ACT 18U State Team from 2023 through 2025 as well as earning selections to the ACT 17U and 16U Regional Teams.
Cogan helped lead her teams to a bronze medal at the Australian Youth Championships and has been a consistent starter at both junior and senior school levels, including five consecutive undefeated school seasons and five straight school championships. A proven leader, she was named Water Polo Captain in 2025 and has also been selected for the NSWCCC Girls Water Polo Team in both 2024 and 2025. She is additionally set to compete on an All-Star Croatia Water Polo Tour in 2026.
Ema Hanza | Goalie | Dubrovnik, Croatia | VK Jug
Hanza joins the Saints from powerhouse Croatian club VK Jug, where she developed into an elite goalkeeper and began her national team journey shortly after joining the program. At the club level, she helped lead her teams to multiple podium finishes, including third-place results in the national championship, junior championship, junior cup, and senior cup, as well as a second-place finish in the U15 Cup where she earned Best Goalkeeper honors. She later captured a U17 Championship title while again being named Best Goalkeeper.
On the international stage, Hanza debuted with the Croatian national team in December 2022 at the U15 level and made her first international tournament appearance in Serbia shortly after. She competed at the 2024 U16 World Championship in Manisa and helped Croatia to a historic fourth-place finish, which elevated her into older national team selections. In 2024–25, she appeared at the U20 World Championship in Brazil, where Croatia finished seventh, followed by a U18 European Championship appearance in Malta as the starting goalkeeper, finishing sixth. In April 2026, she made her senior national team debut at the World Cup in Malta, helping Croatia to a fourth-place finish as the backup goalkeeper.
Olivia Long | Attack | West Lawn, PA | Wilson High School
Long brings a decorated high school and club résumé to Siena, highlighted by multiple all-state and all-conference honors throughout her career. She has earned First Team All-State, First Team All-Conference, Second Team All-County, and Third Team All-State recognition during the 2024–25 season, while also helping lead her team to a state championship. She has been a consistent all-conference and all-county selection across multiple seasons, earning first team honors at both levels in additional years of competition.
At the club level, Long competes with Norco Water Polo and United Water Polo, where she will participate in Junior Olympic qualifying events in California during the 2025–26 season.
Grace Toland | Attack | Oreland, PA | Springfield Township
Toland arrives at Siena after a highly successful high school career that includes multiple state championships and consistent all-state recognition. In 2025, she earned First Team All-State and First Team All-Conference honors while helping her team finish fourth in the state in the Big Schools division.
She repeated First Team All-State and All-Conference honors in 2024, again guiding her team to a fourth-place state finish, and previously helped her program capture a state championship in 2023 while earning Small School First Team All-State honors and Honorable Mention All-State recognition. As a freshman in 2022, she earned Second Team All-State and contributed to another state championship season.
Toland has also been active in club competition with Springfield Aquatic Club since 2019 and WCAC United beginning in 2025, and she competed with a Junior Olympics team during the summer of 2025.
Gaby Zifcak | Utility | Huntington Beach, CA | Ocean View
Zifcak joins Siena as a high-powered offensive threat, coming off a dominant high school season in which she scored over 100 goals and led Ocean View in scoring. She is a First Team All-CIF selection, League MVP, and Team MVP and helped guide her program to a league championship and CIF Quarterfinal appearance in 2024. A versatile utility player known for her work ethic and leadership, she also competed with OC Riptide club program and has attended elite training environments, including the UCLA Water Polo Camp in 2024.
In the classroom, Zifcak is an IB Diploma candidate with a 4.80 weighted GPA and ranks in the top five percent of her class, earning recognition as an Academic All-American in water polo.
