Women's Soccer Names Noel Cox Assistant Coach

May 22, 2006

Head women's soccer coach Steve Karbowski announced the appointment of Noel Cox '05 to the position of assistant coach effective immediately. Cox served as Siena's goalie from 2001-2004, earning MAAC Goalkeeper of the Year accolades in 2002.

"Noel brings a great knowledge of the goalkeeper position and a competitive training mentality to the program," Karbowski said. "She also has a passion for and familiarity with Siena College that will allow her to be a great motivator for the team and a strong recruiter."

Cox will assist in all aspects of the program including practice preparation, player evaluation and recruiting. She will primarily be involved in the training and development of the goalkeepers.

Cox recorded 264 career saves in her four years with the Saints, posting a goals against average under 1.0 in three of her four years. In addition to her Goalkeeper of the Year award in 2002, Cox was named MAAC co-Defensive Player of the Year as a senior in 2004. That season she helped the Saints to a program-best 7-1-1 league mark and a #2 seed in the MAAC Tournament.

Cox had 19 career shutouts and a .813 career save percentage.
