Final Stats
Jared Jordan finished with a triple-double and Marist didn't miss a shot in overtime in an 84-75 win at Siena Monday night in Albany. The entire Siena starting lineup finished in double figures in a losing effort, led by freshman point guard Ronald Moore's 19 points.
Moore gave Siena a 69-65 lead in the overtime session with 3-pointers on consecutive possessions, but Jordan scored back-to-back baskets to tie the game, sparking a 15-3 run that put Marist in control for good. The Red Foxes shot 8-for-8 from the field and 4-for-4 from the free throw line after regulation.
Siena had rallied to tie the game on a David Ryan lay-up with 16 seconds left in the second half. The Saints trailed 60-55 before Edwin Ubiles connected for two of late-arriving 12 points with 54 seconds to go.
Siena's pressure defense then forced a turnover, and Michael Haddix made it a one-point game with a twisting reverse lay-up. Jordan and Kenny Hasbrouck then exchanged baskets and Marist's Shae McNamara made only the backend of his two free throws to set up the game-tying basket.
McNamara, who started for injured Ryan Stilphen, scored 15 points, grabbed five rebounds, dished out four assists and had five steals in 44 minutes of action.
The Saints also rallied at the end of the first half, scoring the final six points after falling behind double figures, to make the score 32-28 at the break. Michael Haddix scored with eight tenths of a second on the clock and was fouled. He followed his missed free throw with a one-handed jumper at the buzzer.
Will Whittington missed his first 11 shots for Marist before connecting on three second half 3-pointers on his way to 17 points.
Marist had 24 assists on its 35 baskets and out-rebounded Siena 40-35. The perimeter-oriented Red Foxes also held a surprising 44-28 edge in points in the paint. There were 12 lead changes and eight ties.
Siena returns to action Friday at 7 p.m. against Fairfield here at Times Union Center.
