Loudonville, N.Y. - Sophomore utility player Lauren Garrigan was named to the Preseason All-MAAC team which was selected by coaches across the league. Last season, Garrigan tallied 35 goals, a team-high 33 assists, 67 steals and drew 23 ejections in her rookie campaign. She was named to the 2006 All-MAAC Second Team.
In the 2007 MAAC Preseason Coaches Poll, the Saints were chosen to finish fifth overall. Siena recorded a 7-23-1 overall record last season finishing 2-8 in league play. The Saints return nine veteran players from last year's squad and are prepared to make some noise in the conference this season.
Marist College, the 2006 MAAC Champions, was picked by coaches across the league to repeat in 2007 earning 35 points in the poll. Senior Stacey Travous from Wagner College was named the 2007 MAAC Preseason Player of the Year. The Seahawks were chosen to finish second overall receiving 29 votes.
The Saints open the 2007 campaign at Mercyhurst in Erie, Pa. on Feb. 17 at 4 p.m. Siena makes their home debut on March 18 when they face-off with Utica at the Siena Swim Center. The match kicks off at 1 p.m. The Saints return for the annual Siena Invitational on March 31 and April 1.
