Loudonville, N.Y. - The Saints cruised to their fourth straight victory outscoring Carthage 11-3 this morning at the Penn. State Behrend Invitational. Siena got five goals by sophomore center Lauren Biehle (Visalia, Calif./Golden West) in the winning effort.
"We executed very well on both sides of the ball, especially in the second quarter to open up the game," head coach Rob Swingle explained.
The Saints held Carthage scoreless through the third quarter thanks to a great defensive effort. Goaltenders Kaedy Graves (Lake Worth, Fla./Lake Worth Community) and Lisa Reilly (Whittier, Calif./California High School) split time in net and combined for six saves.
Siena tallied five unanswered first half goals taking this advantage into intermission. The second half also proved to be all Saints as they outscored Carthage 6-3. Carthage added all three of their goals in the fourth quarter which proved to be too little too late.
Lauren Garrigan (Kailua, Hawaii/Kamehameha) recorded three goals on the contest, while Anne LaFex (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill), Gina Guevara (Weston Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) and Erin Clune (Bainbridge Island, Wash./Bainbridge) added a goal apiece.
The Saints improve to 9-4 on the season and are riding a four game winning streak. Siena rounds out the PSU Invitation with a match-up against host school Penn. State Behrend.
