Final Stats
LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - The Siena women's lacrosse team dropped their second straight game losing 8-6 at Manhattan this afternoon. Lady Jaspers senior attacker Brenna Tinari led the way with three goals helping Manhattan (3-9, 2-2) get past the Saints. Six players scored a goal on behalf of Siena (3-8, 2-2) in the losing effort.
The Saints allowed six consecutive unanswered goals over the opening 9:40 of the contest. Eventually, sophomore attacker Ryan Tierney (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Baldwinsville) opened up the scoring for Siena as she notched a goal at the 16:06 mark. Stephanie DiMari (Hicksville, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy), a sophomore midfielder, connected on a free position shot minutes later cutting the Lady Jaspers advantage to 6-2.
Siena rolled into halftime trailing 7-3. Just 1:09 before the half, Lynn Harkins posted her 14th goal of the season which cut the Saints deficit to four.
Siena carried this momentum into the second half as they managed three straight goals making the score 7-6 with 12:07 remaining. Freshman midfielder Alexandra Kain (Williston Park, N.Y./Mineola) registered the first goal with 25:27 on the clock. Soon thereafter, Amy Schoonmaker (Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury) and Christina Pampalone (East Northport, N.Y./Commack) posted their only scores of the contest.
This would be the closest Siena would get as the Lady Jaspers stingy defense would not allow another goal the rest of the way. Then with 5:34 remaining, Tinari posted an insurance goal to send Manhattan off with a two goal decision.
The Saints return to action on Sunday looking to snap this two game losing streak. They are scheduled to face-off with Iona at 1 p.m. in New Rochelle, N.Y.
