SYRACUSE, N.Y. - LeMoyne rallied for 12 unanswered second half goals to get past Siena 14-6 this afternoon in Syracuse, N.Y. Freshman midfielder Alexandra Kain (Williston Park, N.Y./Minisink Valley) registered a team-high three goals in the Saints losing effort. Whitney Vecchio exploded for six goals to keep LeMoyne undefeated in league play.
Kain earned a hat trick just 11:03 into the contest after notching three consecutive Siena goals. Minutes later, junior attacker Amy Schoonmaker (Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury) connected on back-to-back goals both assisted by junior Ryan Tierney (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Baldwinsville).
The Saints controlled the tempo in the first half. With 29 seconds remaining before intermission, Lynn Harkins (Bellmore, N.Y./Holy Trinity), a junior midfielder, took a feed from co-captain Christina Pampalone (East Northport, N.Y./Commack) and blasted it into the back of the net to give Siena a 6-2 advantage at halftime.
The second half proved to be the polar opposite of the first 30 minutes. The Saints were held scoreless, while Vecchio rallied for her six of the Dolphins 12 goals to lead LeMoyne to a 14-6 victory on their home field.
With the loss, the Saints drop to 2-1 in the MAAC. Siena returns to league action on April 13 at Manhattan. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
