LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - The Siena women's water polo team fell at Villanova 13-8 this evening marking it's second straight league loss. Sophomore utility Lauren Garrigan (Kailua, Hawaii/Kamehameha) posted three points in the losing effort.
Lauren Biehle (Visalia, Calif./Golden West), a sophomore center, put the Saints on top 1-0 with a goal early in the first quarter. The Wildcats responded with back-to-back goals to take a one point advantage.
Senior attacker Anne LaFex (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) posted the first of her team high three goals at the 3:34 mark in the second quarter to tie the game at 2-2. Siena then recorded a couple more scores and cruised into the half with a 4-3 advantage.
Villanova controlled the second half outscoring the Saints 10-4. The Wildcats managed six unanswered goals in the third quarter to take a comfortable lead. Caitlin Smith (Miami Springs, Fla./Miami Springs) and LaFex posted two late goals, but that proved to be too little too late as Villanova cruised to a 13-8 win.
Junior goaltender Kaedy Graves (Lake Worth, Fla./Lake Worth Community) registered seven saves and two steals in the losing effort. With the loss, the Saints fall to 11-7 overall and 0-2 in league play.
