LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Senior Mike DeSimone's golden goal gave Siena a 2-1 overtime win over the University of Rhode Island Friday evening in Kingston, R.I. Steve Skonieczny's 10-save effort kept his team in the game before DeSimone won it.
Siena (2-5-1) jumped on the scoreboard first with a goal from senior Zach Gosse in the 29th minute. Gosse hit a shot from 25 yards out that beat goalkeeper Chris Pennock. It was the defender's first career goal.
URI's (4-4-1) Kedan Crosby tied the game just four minutes into the second half. Josh Sousa took a shot that was saved by goalkeeper Steve Skonieczny but the rebound went right to Crosby who finished it in the back of the net.

The two teams battled into a second overtime period until Siena's Mike DeSimone scored the game-winner in the 105th minute. Freshman Matt Turcio played a ball across the box to DeSimone who quickly shot it past Pennock for the 2-1 win.
Siena's coaching staff enjoyed their return to URI by picking up the win at their old school. Head coach Gareth Elliott and assistants Ahmad Manning and Aidan Byrne all played for the Rams. Elliott and Manning also served as assistant coaches at URI before joining Siena.
