Final Stats
Loudonville, N.Y. - The Siena women's lacrosse team relinquished an early 5-2 lead as Longwood scored 13 of the final 15 goals in racing off to a 15-7 victory this afternoon in Farmville, Va. Lindsey Rosecrans, Erin Hepper and Kathryn Marcantonio each tallied a pair of goals for the Saints who fell to 2-4 on the season.
Siena jumped out to an early 5-2 lead at the 12:27 mark of the first half on Marcantonio's second goal of the game. Longwood (3-6) quickly responded to score the final five goals of the half to harbor a 7-5 lead entering intermission.
The Lancers ultimately made it seven unanswered goals early in the second half following a score from Josie Ziluca, increasing Longwood's lead to 9-5. Ziluca was the difference as she finished with a game-high four goals.
Hepper answered back for the Green and Gold to pull the Saints within three but it was not enough as the Lancers continued to keep their offensive flowing in scoring 13 of the final 15 goals.
Ironically, despite notching seven goals, no Siena player recorded an assist. Longwood held a 27-20 edge in shots and 25-13 advantage in ground balls.
Siena concludes its season long five game road trip next Thursday at Holy Cross. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
