LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. -Junior Erin Clune and freshman Camille Norman won All-American Academic awards as announced by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches. The Siena water polo team was also recognized for its excellence in the classroom.
"It is a great accomplishment for Erin and Camille to have made the All-American Academic team," said head coach Ellen Howe. "Both have shown to excel in the classroom and in the pool and we are excited for their honor."
Clune (Bainbridge Island, Wash./Bainbridge), a political science major, holds a 3.37 cumulative GPA. She is a three-time member on the All-American Academic Team. Clune played in 22 games last season, scoring three goals and one assist.
Norman (Bellevue, Wash./Sammamish), a marketing and management major, has a 3.23 cumulative GPA. She started 20 of 29 games and was fourth on the team with 52 points.
In 2008, the Saints qualified for the MAAC Tournament for the first time in program history.
In order for a student-athlete to qualify for the ACWPC All-Academic Team they must be a regular member of an institution's varsity water polo team and carry a 3.2 grade point average or higher.
