ALBANY, N.Y. - Kenny Hasbrouck scored 21 points, moving past Marcus Faison into third place on the school's all-time scoring list (currently at 1,699), to lead balanced Siena to a dominant 91-73 win over Canisius Thursday at Times Union Center.
The Saints shot 56% for the game and 64% in the second half to easily overcome an early 23-15 deficit.
Clarence Jackson came off the bench to score 13 of his 16 points in the first half to provide a much-needed lift. It's the most points the sophomore has ever scored in a game at Times Union Center.
Alex Franklin and Edwin Ubiles each had 15 points and seven rebounds and the Saints took advantage of 29 Canisius fouls, converting 25-34 free throws on the night.
Siena used a 20-5 run to turn the eight-point first half deficit into a seven point lead and never looked back. In the second half, a 22-4 spurt turned an eight point lead into a commanding 26-point advantage.
After Siena took its biggest lead, 83-55, on an Owen Wignot dunk, Canisius used an 11-0 spurt to cut the lead to 17, but got no closer.
Julius Coles made 7-9 field goals and led Canisius with 16 points. Frank Turner had 15 points, six rebounds and six assists and Greg Logins had 13 points and eight boards. Chris Gadley rounded out the four Griffs in double figures with 11 points.
Canisius shot 53% from the field, but had 19 turnovers.
Freshmen Owen Wignot (7) and Kyle Downey (4) combined for 11 points in 31 minutes for the Saints.
Siena has now won seven straight games, 12 of 13 and 15 of its last 17. The Saints also ran their home winning streak to 15 games and have positioned themselves well for a nationally televised ESPNU BarcketBusters home game to be announced Monday evening at 6:30 p.m. on ESPNU.
