Camille Norman scored a career-high five goals as the Siena water polo team knocked off Mercyhurst 12-9 this afternoon on the final day of the ECAC Championships in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. With the win, the #7 seed Saints finished the weekend 1-2 and claimed seventh place for the tournament.
Lauren Garrigan added a hat trick and Gina Guevara concluded a solid tournament with a two goal performance for the Saints which improved to 2-6 on the season. The other Siena goals came courtesy of Lauren Biehle and Molly Chamberlain as the Saints' posted a season-high with their 12 goals.
Mercyhurst, seeded eighth out of eight teams in the championships, was led by Nelson who lit the lamp four times.
Later in the day Brown defeated Marist 10-8 in overtime to claim the championship. Additionally, Wagner defeated George Washington 9-8 in the third place game and Iona sunk Saint Francis (N.Y.) 11-6 in the fifth place match.
The Saints return to Poughkeepsie Saturday for the Marist Invite. Siena will matchup with Hartwick at 8 a.m. before facing Utica in a 3 p.m. start.
