Box Score

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena women's lacrosse outscored Marist 8-2 in a 20-minute span during the second half to rally within two, but the Red Foxes held on for the 15-11 win with two late goals Wednesday afternoon at Siena Turf Field. Marist jumped out to a 10-3 first half lead and held on for the win, snapping Siena's win streak at five games. Senior Lindsey Rosecrans scored four goals and added one assist to pace the Saints.

After Courtney Highsmith gave Siena (6-2, 0-1) a 1-0 lead 6 ½ minutes in, Marist (6-1, 1-0) took over the rest of the half, scoring six straight goals and led 10-3 at the half. MAAC Offensive Player of the Week Stephanie Garland tallied five goals in the first 30 minutes.

The Saints woke up in the second half and after giving up a goal to Ariel Kramer that made it 11-3; Siena scored five consecutive goals by five different players and cut the deficit to 11-8. Rosecrans capped the stretch as she went coast-to-coast and fired a shot past goalie Kelsey Thoms with 11:12 remaining.

Garland ended the Siena run with her sixth goal of the game at the 8:03 mark. Once again, Rosecrans answered for the Saints with a free-position goal less than a minute later. Siena drew within two on Rosecrans' fourth goal of the game with just 2:41 left in regulation. But that was as close as they'd get.

The Red Foxes added two late goals. After controlling the ball in Siena territory for the final two minutes, they scored on a free-position shot with 10 seconds left. They won the ensuing draw control and scored again with one second remaining.

Thoms, the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week, made 10 saves in the win while MAAC Rookie of the Week Kristin Concordia stopped 10 shots in defeat. Concordia kept the game in reach with seven saves in the first half.

Marist outshot Siena 21-11 in the first half while the Saints controlled the shot margin 21-10 in the second half.

Deirdre McQuillan and Caitlin Mikel each scored a pair of goals.

Siena returns to action Sunday when they host Niagara at 11 a.m.
