Playing for the first time in 12 days, six different Saints scored led by hat tricks from Lauren Garrigan and Camille Norman as the Siena Water Polo team downed Villanova 13-6 this afternoon at the Villanova Invite in Villanova, Pa. With the win, the Saints enter conference action with a 7-10 record on the season.
The Saints raced out to a 6-1 lead after the first period which ballooned to 11-2 at halftime. The eleven first half goals were the most scored in the first half of a game by Siena this season.
Garrigan, the MAAC's leading scorer, added three assists for a six point game to go along with a career-high six steals while Norman finished with five points. Lauren Biehle, Nicole Hagi and Devan Ragg also added a pair of goals for the Saints.
Molly Chamberlain added a solid performance with two assists, four steals and two ejections drawn. Jennifer Kissel earned the win in goal, playing the first half and recording six saves, while allowing just two goals. Lynh Nguyen entered in relief and made four stops.
The Saints return to action Saturday for the start of their 10-game MAAC schedule. Siena will face the Wildcats once more at 10 a.m. and Saint Francis (N.Y.) at 4 p.m. on the campus of Wagner in Staten Island, N.Y.
