Vermont scored seven straight goals in 11 minutes in the second half and defeated Siena women's lacrosse 19-14 Wednesday afternoon in Burlington, Vt. Lindsey Rosecrans matched her career-high with seven points on four goals and three assists in the loss.
Siena (1-1) scored just 16 seconds into the game on Rosecrans' first goal of the game. They traded goals with Vermont (2-2) early on, but the Catamounts took a 9-6 lead into halftime.
Caitlin Mikel and Erin Hepper each scored goals in the first five minutes of the second half to cut the deficit to 9-8. But the Catamounts scored seven straight goals in 11 minutes to bust the game open. Siena tried to rally with three goals in two minutes, but Vermont held on for the 19-14 win.
Vermont's goalie Olivia Hatfield made 11 saves in the win. Siena's Kristin Concordia stopped 12 shots in the loss.
Siena returns to action on Sunday when they play at Central Connecticut State University at 1 p.m.
