LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Boston College jumped all over Siena 6-0 to start the game and never looked back, beating the Saints 17-8 Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference women's lacrosse game at Siena Turf Field. Lauren Fitzpatrick led all players with eight points while Lindsey Rosecrans tallied three points to tie the school's single-season points record (60) set by Christina Pampalone in 2005. Rosecrans has two more games to try and break that record.
It took just 22 seconds for Boston College (8-7) to make it 1-0 with a goal from Kristin Igoe. The Eagles added five more to take a 6-0 lead at the 19:02 mark of the first half. Freshman Deirdre McQuillan scored Siena's (6-8) first goal of the game, her 17th of the season, at the 18:13 mark.
Rosecrans scored her first goal of the game with 3:11 left in the first half to cut the deficit to 10-5.With 35 seconds left in the half, the Saints turned it over in BC's end and the Eagles flew down the field to score with one second left. They went into halftime with an 11-5 lead.
Caitlin Mikel scored her second goal of the game less than two minutes into the second half. But after each of Siena's three second half goals, BC scored two and extended their lead. Mikel finished with three goals.
Rosecrans tied the school's single-season points record with her second goal of the game at the 6:16 mark of the second half. She came around the crease and spun between a defender and the crease, found an opening and shot it past the goalie. Rosecrans put five of her team-leading nine shots on goal. She also caused five turnovers and had four ground balls.
BC's Katie Monaghan made nine saves and allowed seven goals in 49 minutes before she was relieved by Catherine Conway.
The Saints have lost seven straight games after a 6-1 start to the season.
Siena returns to action Friday when they play Manhattan in Riverdale, N.Y. Game time is slated for 7 p.m.
