LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena men's golfers Dan Abbondandolo and Don DeNyse III made headlines this week for their strong play on the course. Abbondandolo was selected to the PING All-Region Team, while DeNyse captured the Albany County Men's Amateur Golf title.
Abbondandolo, who served as a senior co-captain this past season for the Saints, picked up his second consecutive PING Division I All-Region award representing the Northeast Region. He was just one of just 22 nominees and the only MAAC golfer to receive recognition.
The Oyster Bay Cove, N.Y. native had a strong conclusion to his Siena career placing high in all spring events, highlighted by a fourth place finish at the Navy Invitational leading up to a third place showing at the MAAC Championships in which he led Siena to a close second place finish.
A local product out of Albany, DeNyse secured his second straight Albany County title. DeNyse fired a +1 round of 73 Sunday after posting an impressive first round score of 68 on Saturday to win the title by a comfortable seven stroke advantage over his nearest competitor.
DeNyse, who will be entering his junior season this fall, becomes the first back-to-back winner in the history of this event.
