Siena Men's Golf tied for the ninth-lowest score among the field of 14 teams during Monday's middle round of the 54-hole Marquette Intercollegiate at Erin Hills Golf Course in Erin, WI. The Saints shot +10, 298 – a 33-stroke improvement from Sunday's team score – to remain 14th through 36 holes of play at 53-over (331-298–629).
KC Nickel continued his steady play in his home state of Wisconsin, finishing his round at -1, 71 for a share of 10th place entering the final round (77-71–148). Highlighted by an eagle on the par-4 15th hole, the sophomore shot -3 on the back nine, where he started the day before shooting two-over on the front. He is one of eight golfers with an eagle in the tournament – teammate
Michael McConie being another – and still leads the field with 28 pars and remains top-three with an even scoring average on par-4 holes.
McConie's eagle came on the par-5 first hole, helping him finish the day +3 to move into a tie for 58th. Through two rounds, the junior is shooting +14 (83-75–158) while his middle round Monday moved him into the top 10 lowest par-5 scoring average in the field at 4.75.
Freshman
Colton Lusk had one of the biggest jumps of the day, improving 19 positions to enter Tuesday tied for 62nd after shooting +2 Monday, bringing his 36-hole score to +15 (85-74–159). Unattached to the team score, another Wisconsin native carded another solid round in
Michael Broeker. The sophomore shot +3 Monday, including an even 36 on the back nine, to move into a share of 42nd at +7 through 36 holes (80-75–155).
Gavin Crowley finished the day +6 to bring his 36-hole score to +20 (86-78–164), while
Austin Giroux carded a +15 Monday to go to +29 overall (86-87–173).
The Saints wrap up their trip to the Marquette Intercollegiate Tuesday with split tee times starting at 10 a.m. ET.
