Final Stats
LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Morgan Kauffman and Austin Thomas collecetd two goals each and Bucknell scored the final five tallies to post a 6-1 victory over the Saints at sun-soaked Siena Turf Field Sunday. Siena goalie Renee Clavette recorded 10 saves in defeat.
The game was competitive for the first 45 minutes.
The Bison got on the board in the 27th minute when Mallory Smith broke free following a failed corner attempt by the Saints. The 1-0 lead held up until halftime thanks to a stellar defensive save by Siena's converted defenseman Sarah Szewcyk on a point blank attempt by Megan Krebs with less than four minutes to play.
Siena's Lisa Heimerle posted the equalizer off an Olivia Whelly feed less than five minutes into the second half.
Bucknell took the lead for good when Thomas registered the eventual game-winner off a centering pass from Corrine Raczek. That score sparked a decisive 5-0 Bison run that led to the lopsided final. Kauffman scored her two goals over a 16-minute stretch, the first coming on a well-placed shot from the left wing, and the second when she tapped in a rebounded following a drive from the top of the circle.
The two tallies bracketed a strong drive by Krebs that found the back of the cage in the 64th minute. Thomas finished the scoring in the 69th minute when she deflected Taylor Seigrest's entry feed past Clavette for her second score.
The Saints fall to 0-2 with the setback and will have eight days to prep for their next contest - a Labor Day affair with UC Davis here in Loudonville.
