Siena's women's golf team has received two early commitments from current high school seniors Mary Fletcher (Fayetteville, N.Y.) and Katie Nelson (Auburn, Mass.). Fletcher and Nelson will compete for the 10-time defending MAAC champions beginning in 2011-2012.
"Both Katie and Mary come to Siena with the talent, desire and experience necessary to succeed at the Division 1 collegiate level," said Siena head coach Dave Wronowski. "I expect both of them to have an immediate impact on our program's success upon their arrival at Siena in the fall."
Fletcher currently attends Christian Brothers Academy. As a junior, she won the individual Section III championship.
"We are extremely excited to add Mary to our team," Wronowski said. "We are adding an excellent student-athlete who has a strong work ethic, positive attitude and will be a great fit for our team and the Siena community."
Meanwhile, Nelson is in her senior year at Holy Name High.
"Katie brings a strong work ethic, national tournament experience, and will make an immediate impact on our program," Wronowski said. "I think Katie will fit perfectly with our program and will instantly make us a stronger team."
