Final Stats
Behind 26 points from Alex Franklin and 17 rebounds from Ryan Rossiter, Siena bounced back from its first loss in two months with a resounding 74-57 win over Canisius Sunday in Buffalo. The Saints shot 54% from the field and out-rebounded the Griffs 43-27.
Looking nothing like the team that was blown out of the gym in the second half Friday night at Niagara, and every bit the part of the team that has now won 16 of 17 games, Siena cruised to a 10-point halftime lead and led by double figures for the final 10:43.
It was the 10th consecutive time the Saints have defeated the Griffs, with nine of those wins coming by double figures. It also marked the 11th straight time Siena has followed a loss with a win.
Franklin and Rossiter combined for 31 points and 24 rebounds, overpowering Canisius' frontline. For Rossiter, it was his 11th double-double in 12 games, and MAAC leading 16th of the season. Franklin improved his team-leading scoring average to 16.3 points per game with his 11th 20-point effort of the season.
The Saints also received a spark from Clarence Jackson, who scored all 16 of his points in the first half, including eight straight during a mini run that gave Siena the lead for good.
Siena also got great bench play in the first half. Ronald Moore sat out 13 minutes after picking up his second foul and reserve Kyle Griffin provided quality minutes in his absence. Griffin had five assists, four rebounds, three points and no turnovers in 21 very strong minutes.
Bob Bevilacqua led Canisius with 17 points, converting 5-9 3-pointers. He helped pull the Girffs within seven, 51-44 with 11:58 to go, by making three 3-pointers in four possessions.
Siena returns to action Saturday at nationally ranked Butler in an ESPN2 televised BracketBusters game scheduled for 11 a.m.
