UAlbany Runs Away from Siena

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - UAlbany jumped out to an 11-0 lead and cruised to an 18-2 victory against Siena Friday afternoon in Loudonville. It was the largest margin of victory for UAlbany since it won 20-4 on March 31, 2000. The Great Danes are 13-0 all-time against the Saints.

UAlbany (2-1) outshot Siena (3-2) 48-6.

Melanie Sosnowski scored four goals in the first 15 minutes of the game to give UAlbany an 8-0 lead. Taylor Frink led all players with six points on four goals and two assists while Kayla Best tallied five goals.

Caitlin Mikel broke through for the Saints with 6:48 remaining in the first half. She entered the week leading the nation with 8.33 ppg and 4.33 apg.

Erin Hepper scored Siena's other goal and led the team with four caused turnovers and four ground balls.

Sophomore goalie Kristin Concordia made a career-high 15 saves in the loss. She made four saves and didn't allow a goal through the first 13 minutes of the second half.

UAlbany won 14 of 22 draw controls and held a 31-16 edge in ground balls. The Saints had 27 turnovers compared to UAlbany's 15.

The Saints return to action on Wednesday when they play Vermont on the road. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
