LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena Water Polo dropped a 16-6 decision to No. 11 Hartwick Saturday at Siena Swim Center. Jackie Crosby led the Saints in defeat with four points.
Prior to the game, the team honored the memory of the late Ben Stowell. A nine year old from nearby Latham, Stowell lost his courageous battle with cancer in October. An honorary member of the team along with his twin brother James since 2006, Stowell was memorialized with a special plaque that was hung in the Siena Swim Center honoring his memory.
As for the game, Siena (8-15) fell behind early trailing 6-3 after the first quarter and never led. Crosby paced the offense with a pair of goals and assists, while Rebecca Robinson, Katie Ness, Devan Ragg and Monica Chaviano recorded the other goals.
The team's leading scorer Camille Norman, who leads the conference and is amongst the nation's leaders in scoring, was held without a point for the first time this year. Sophomore goalie Jennifer Kissel added 14 saves between the pipes.
The Saints return to action for the start of conference action Saturday in Villanova, Pa. Siena battles Iona at 1 p.m. and the host Wildcats at 5 p.m.
