Final Stats

Siena women's tennis picked up a key MAAC victory Sunday, defeating Niagara 5-2 at Central Park in Schenectady. The Saints won two of the three doubles matches and four of six singles competitions.

"The old saying goes 'It's not how many times you get knocked down, it's how many times you get back up' and we certainly did get up and got ready to play today after yesterdays lost to NJIT," commented head coach Andy Christodoulou. "I'm so proud of the way the team performed in a match that had so much meaning. They had so much fight and determination. We knew coming into this match that Coach Paul would have her team prepared and they certainly did. The match was a lot closer than the score reflects."

Jasleen Sandhu and Nicole Ross won at top doubles, 8-2 over Niagara's Hilary Hansen and Alyssa Lucas. After the Purple Eagles took the victory in #2 doubles, Siena's Brittany Filip and Jess Asselin posted an 8-4 victory at #3 doubles to earn the point.

Ross and Asselin won both of their singles matches as well to give them two wins each on the day. Other Siena singles winners included Danielle Crill and Elora Benfer.

The Saints return to action Tuesday when they host Sacred Heart at 3 p.m.
