Final Stats

Siena made up a four-goal difference midway through the second half and tied the game twice in the last 10 minutes, but it wasn't enough as Marist outlasted the Saints 12-11 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference opener Saturday afternoon in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Senior captain Allie Kain scored a career-high five goals.

Siena never led, but tied the game seven different times.

Marist (4-5, 1-0) led for most of the first half, but couldn't create any distance. Erin Hepper tied the game 6-6 going into halftime.

Marist scored four straight goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half. But the Saints stormed back with four goals in seven minutes, tying the game 10-10.

Kristin McMillan scored a free-position goal that tied the game 11-11 with 7:29 remaining in the game. Marist's Ariel Kramer answered less than two minutes later on its only free-position goal of the game. Senior defender Jaclyn Papa drew a yellow card on Marist's way down the field prior to the goal.

Hepper and Allie Primo each tallied two goals. Hepper also led the team with three caused turnovers and five ground balls.

Siena (4-5, 0-1) converted 3-of-14 free-position shots while Marist scored on 1-of-5.

Sophomore goalie Kristin Concordia made nine saves in the loss. Marist's Alyssa Littin made five saves in the win.

The Saints return to action on Tuesday when they play Dartmouth in Hanover, N.H. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
