Siena's women's tennis team played its first dual match of the season, easily disposing of Rider Saturday afternoon in Lawrenceville. The Saints swept the doubles competition and won five of six singles matches to post a 6-1 victory.
"It's always nice to start conference play with a win," head coach Andy Christodolou said. "It was a real team effort today; everyone was sharp, especially in doubles."
Jasleen Sandhu and Nicole Ross won 8-3 at top doubles, Carly Holloway and Danielle Crill posted an 8-1 win at second doubles and Brittany Filip and Elora Benfer held down third doubles with a clean 8-0 sweep.
Sandhu, Holloway and Filip each won their singles matches in straight sets as well, while freshmen Jessica Macaluso and Cassandra Braz won easily at No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
"Cassie and Jessica responded like veterans today," Christodolou commented.
The Saints are off until next weekend when they travel to partake in the Marist Invitational.
