Feb. 12, 2011
Siena water polo opened the 2011 season by splitting their first two games of the Bison Invitational Saturday in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. The Saints fell to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 14-12, but rebounded to top Mercyhurst 9-7.
The opener was a back and forth game, with both teams jockeying for the lead much of the way. However, Siena fell despite a six-goal, four-assist effort from senior Camille Norman. Jackie Crosby added two goals and an assist, and Devon Ragg chipped in with a goal and three assists.
Later in the day, Siena notched its first win of 2011 over Mercyhurst. The Saints pulled away at the end of the second quarter and established a lead they would not relinquish. It was another big game for Norman, who scored four goals and dished out two assists, and Crosby (two goals, three assists) and Ragg (three goals, two assists) also had solid outings as well.
Siena will complete the Bison Invitational on Sunday with games against Gannon and Bucknell.
