Siena dropped its first two games of the Michigan Invitational Saturday, falling 10-9 to Mercyhurst and dropping an 18-8 decision to Michigan. Two super efforts from Camille Norman were not enough, and the Saints dropped to 3-6 on the 2011 season.
In a back and forth game against Mercyhurst, the Saints had tied it at 8 heading into the fourth period. However, Siena was outscored 2-1 in the final stanza to lose in heartbreaking fashion. Norman led the Saints with three goals, while Devan Ragg added two. Nicole Hagi, Molly Chamberlain, Lea Allen, and Katie Ness also found the back of the net for Siena.
In the nightcap against the host Wolverines, Siena fell behind early and could never close the gap. The Saints were led by another stellar performance from Norman, who scored four goals to bring her day's total to seven. Hagi, Ness, Jackie Crosby, and Traci Robertson also tallied goals in the losing effort.
Play continues in Ann Arbor Sunday, as the Saints play both Grove City and Maryland.
