Siena water polo faced a stiff test Sunday and couldn't quite pass it, falling to MAAC power Iona 15-7 in their final game of the 2011 Siena Invitational. This is the first of three meetings the Saints will have with the Gaels, and Iona's offensive attack was ultimately too much to overcome.
Sophomore Rebecca Robinson did have a big day for the Saints (3-4), scoring three goals on the afternoon. Melanie Boehrig, Lea Allen, Traci Robertson, and Molly Chamberlain also found the back of the net for Siena, but Iona was able to steadily pull away, expanding a 6-3 lead after two periods to the final 15-7 cushion.
Siena will next be in action next weekend, when they travel to Ann Arbor for the Michigan Invitational.
