Lehigh erupted for nine goals in the first 16 minutes as the Saints fell to the Mountain Hawks 19-7 Wednesday afternoon in Bethlehem, Pa. All seven of Siena's goals came from seven different players.
Lehigh (3-2) scored nine of the game's first 10 goals and led comfortably at the half, 11-2. The Saints (2-3) struggled to score throughout as three of their seven scored came in the last 3:02 of the game once the contest was already decided.
Caitlin Mikel, Kristin McMillan, Michelle Andreo, Allie Primo, Katie Maguire, Deirdre McQuillan and Kelly Perry each scored single goals for the Saints. McQuillan was the only Siena player to register a multiple point performance as she added an assist.
Tewaaraton Award candidate Lauren Dykstra led the way for Lehigh with five goals and scored on all three of her free-position shots. Allison Thomas added a hat trick and five other players contributed two goals apiece for the Mountain Hawks.
The Saints will look to rebound Saturday when they return home to host Liberty at Siena Turf Field for the front end of a men's and women's lacrosse doubleheader. The Saints and Flames will start things up at 11 a.m.
