LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - On a cool, windy afternoon that felt more like football weather, the Siena Lacrosse team hung a football-like score on overmatched Manhattan. The Saints erupted for their most goals scored in 11 years en route to a two-touchdown drubbing of the Jaspers, 20-6 Saturday afternoon at Siena Turf Field.

The 14-goal margin of victory was the Saints' (9-3, 3-1) largest since a 16-goal win over Presbyterian (19-3) on Feb. 16, 2008. Additionally, the 20 goals scored were the most since a 22-goal outburst in a victory over Wagner on Apr. 27, 2000.

The triumph was yet another in a recent period of dominance by Siena over Manhattan (3-11, 2-2). The Saints won their sixth in a row over the Jaspers, outscoring them 74-37 over that time.

Early on Manhattan hung tough taking a 2-1 lead in the opening seven minutes, but from then on the floodgates opened.

Siena scored 11 of the next 12 goals and tallied their last 19 goals of the game over a span of just 48:12. In the second half the Saints' offense was remarkably efficient, scoring on all 11 of their shots on goal.

13 different Saints scored including Richie Hurley, Brendan Meehan and Zach Triner who all tallied their first career goals. Triner was also solid again in the faceoff X, combining with Chris Brancato to win 19 of 29 face-offs.

Bryan Neufeld and Danny Martinsen led the offensive onslaught recording four points apiece while tallying hat tricks. Neufeld's hat trick was the 20th of his career as he extended the nation's longest active scoring streak to 47 games.

Kyle Curry, Chris D'Alberti and Collin Parkhurst each added two goals. Chris Roth finished with three points on a goal and two assists in a solid all-around showing in which the Saints also scored a season-high four man-up goals in five chances.

Once again Tom Morr did his part in goal stifling Manhattan's offense. Morr made 14 saves in just over 50 minutes of action before being relieved late in the contest.

Once more, the Saints goalie quarterbacked a solid defensive effort which killed off all five of their man-down situations and have successfully killed off 28 of 29 man-down opportunities at home this season.

Manhattan received single goals from six different players with Brendan Rogers serving as their lone multiple point performer with a goal and an assist. Freshman goalie Rich Akapnitis had a tough afternoon in net, making just six saves as the Jaspers dropped their third straight.

The Saints return to the field for their final regular season road game next Saturday at Canisius. The Saints and Golden Griffins faceoff at 1 p.m. from the Demske Sports Complex, home of next month's MAAC Tournament.
