LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - In the span of one afternoon, Siena saw its six-game winning streak, 13-game home winning streak and 20-game MAAC regular season winning streak come to a sudden end. Meanwhile on the opposite end of the spectrum upstart Detroit, in just its third year of existence, won its first-ever road game shocking the Saints 13-11 Saturday afternoon at Siena Turf Field.

Siena (7-3, 1-1) saw the nation's second longest active home field winning streak stopped while suffering its first MAAC regular season home defeat since Mar. 29, 2008. Detroit (3-8, 2-1), which had dropped its first 23 road contests as a program prior to today, won for just the sixth time overall in 37 all-time games.

With the game nodded at 6-6 at the half, the Titans scored four times in the third to take a commanding 10-6 lead into the final period. Detroit out-shot Siena 15-2 and picked up 12 groundballs to the Saints' two in what turned out to be the decisive period.

Detroit seemed to be quicker to the loose balls throughout the game, picking up a whopping 55 groundballs in total to just 29 for Siena.

Down four scores at 12-8 late in the game, the Saints rallied to get as close as 12-10 with 2:53 remaining, but Shayne Adams' second goal of the game with just 2:28 left dashed Siena's hopes.

Siena, which entered the week placing second amongst teams also receiving votes in both the USILA Coaches' Poll and Nike/Inside Lacrosse Media Poll for the first time this year, took a 3-2 lead with 4:20 remaining in the first period on Chris Roth's first of three goals of the game.

But Detroit tied it up before the end of the period and while Siena would tie it once more, the Saints never led again as they were forced to play catch up the rest of the way.

The lone streak that did remain intact for the Saints' was Bryan Neufeld's point scoring streak. The junior attack scored a goal and added two assists to run the nation's longest active scoring streak to 45 consecutive games.

Danny Martinsen led the Saints with four goals and an assist, while Tom Morr made 15 saves as Siena fell for the first time at home since Mar. 17, 2009.

Six different Titans scored two goals apiece, but it was the play in goal by A.J. Levell which stood out. Levell made 16 saves while also picking up five groundballs as he routinely stymied the Saints opportunities in close.

A bright spot for the Saints however continued to be their man-down defense which once again killed off all seven opportunities and has successfully killed off 34 of its opponents' last 36 (94.4%) man-up situations covering the past seven games.

The Saints will look to regroup when they head south next Saturday for their first ever matchup with new MAAC Lacrosse League member Jacksonville. The Saints and Dolphins face-off in Florida at noon on Apr. 9.
