Two weeks after Siena finished second at their spring opener, the Saints sputtered on day one of the Villanova Invitational and currently sit 16th in the team standings. Senior Don DeNyse III led Siena with a 76, and is tied for 33rd at the tournament's halfway point.
DeNyse's five-over-par score is ten shots behind overall leader Kevin McLister of Delaware, who leads by four shots after a first-round 67. Teammates Justin Deitz and David Gushee both shot rounds of 80, and are tied for 62nd. Meanwhile, Siena's team score of +33 is 27 shots behind Delaware's +6.
