LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Fresh off a successful foreign tour to Denmark and Italy, the Saints learned Thursday who their non-conference opponents would be this winter. Siena will play a nine-game non-conference schedule which begins with the season opener Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. vs. Sacred Heart at the ARC.
Six of the Saints' nine opponents posted winning records last season and Navy, whom the team will play Dec. 7 in Annapolis, advanced to the 2011 NCAA Tournament.
Five of the games will be played in the Capital Region including the first three to begin the season. Following the opener against the Pioneers, the Saints will host Binghamton (Nov. 15) and Rhode Island (Nov. 19).
Additionally, the Saints welcome UMass (Dec. 21) to the ARC and play in the annual Albany Cup at the Times Union Center against the Great Danes on Dec. 3.
Road games include a trip to Greensboro, N.C. to battle North Carolina A&T (Nov. 25), Navy, Central Connecticut (Dec. 10) and Maine (Dec. 29).
The complete 2011-12 schedule is expected to be released sometime next month with the announcement of the MAAC schedule.
The Saints completed the 2010-11 season with a 14-16 overall record.
