LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Less than a week after one Siena Basketball team upset the MAAC apple cart, the other looks to do likewise. Aiming for the first win over their I-87 rival in eight years, the Siena women host six-time defending MAAC Champion Marist in the annual Gold Rush game at the ARC. The Saints (6-12, 4-5) enter today's showdown with some much needed momentum following back-to-back wins. In the span of just one week, Siena has gone from a tie for last place in the MAAC all the way up to fourth place midway through the conference slate.
Following a number of key departures due to graduation, transfer and injury, Marist (14-6, 9-0) looked like it might come back down to earth a little bit this season. But so far, nothing could be further from the truth.
The Red Foxes have reloaded and swept through the conference, running their MAAC winning streak to 33 straight games. Against Siena, Marist has won 15 in a row including seven straight here in Loudonville.
Today marks the Saints' annual "Gold Rush" game and at halftime fans will be treated to a Dance Clinic performance from Capital Region youngsters. Fans are encouraged to wear gold in an attempt to "Gold Out" the ARC and the first 500 fans will receive a Gold Rush rally towel.
