Final Stats | Photo Gallery

Sacred Heart took 21 shots and scored four unanswered goals in the second half, and the Saints could not hold off them off, falling 5-1 on Senior Day.

The Pioneers (6-11, 1-6 NEC) got on the scoreboard first only three minutes into the game when Christine Mace fired a shot for her second goal of the season.

The Saints (0-15, 0-7 NEC) would have an opportunity to tie the game when a red card was issued to the Sacred Heart bench and Siena went up one player for five minutes. However, Siena would not be able to capitalize.

The Green and Gold would tie the game up just seconds before the first half came to a close. Michaela Sullivan took a pass from Cory dela Gorgendiere and lined a shot into the back of the net. It was the first of the season for Sullivan, and dela Gorgendiere's second assist.

After intermission, it would be all Sacred Heart. The Pioneers took 21 shots, and scored four goals in a span of 12 minutes to take the victory.

For the game, Siena was outshot 28-8, including at a 21-2 clip in the second frame. Beth Meyers made 12 saves, putting her career total to 507, nine behind the all-time record for the Saints. She also became only the second Siena student-athlete to record 500 saves in her career.

Playing in their final game, Olivia Whelly and Kelly Johansmeyer started the game but did not record a shot. With the appearance, Whelly ties the Siena record for games played in a career.

The loss ends the 2012 season for the Saints, the first under Kara Zappone. This season, Siena scored in nine games and saw six different players find the back of the net. Dela Gorgendiere, Lindsey Yenter, and Whelly all tied for the team lead in goals.

Katherine Bowie notched two assists, and is now only one dish away from cracking the top 10 in Siena history.

The Saints will try to regroup for the 2013 season as they return most of their core from this year.
