Siena women's tennis fell 6-1 to Colgate on Saturday at Tri-City in Latham. Senior Jasleen Sandhu's comeback victory at No. 1 singles provided the only bright spot for the Saints, who have now lost five in a row dating back to late-October.
"Colgate played really well and they deserved the win," said Siena head coach Andy Christodoulou. "We will not ponder on this loss, but instead gather the necessary information and move forward."
After dropping the first set 6-1, Sandhu came roaring back, winning the second set 6-1 before cruising to a 10-4 decision in the tiebreaker. Freshman Jessica Macaluso also went to a tiebreaker at No. 5 singles, but came out on the losing end, dropping a 1-6, 6-2 (10-8) decision. The Saints were also edged at No. 2 doubles, where Macaluso and Cassie Braz fell 8-7 (7-3).
Siena will next be in action at the USPTR Spring Tennisfest in Hilton Head, S.C. They'll kick off play at the tournament on March 12 against Savannah State.
