Siena women's tennis got a major boost Tuesday, defeating MAAC rival Marist 4-3 at Tri-City in Latham. Despite dropping the doubles point, the Green and Gold finished with a flourish, taking four of the day's six singles matches.

"Even though we lost the doubles point, I knew we were playing well and that this was a winnable game," said Siena head coach Andy Christodoulou. "In singles, we served at a high percentage, and that's always the key."

Most notable was an exciting comeback by Jasleen Sandhu at No. 1 singles. The senior was swept 6-0 in the first set, but rallied to take the final two sets 6-2 and 7-5.

"Tonight, Jasleen showed her unwavering determination and leadership qualities," Christodoulou said.

Meanwhile, Carly Holloway, Jessica Macaluso, and Elora Benfer all won their singles matches in straight sets, and Danielle Crill dropped a tight three-set decision at No. 4 singles.

Now 8-8 on the season and 2-1 in MAAC play, the Saints return to the court Saturday for another important MAAC match at Loyola.
