Water Polo Splits First Two in Michigan Invitational

The Siena water polo team split their first two games in the Wolverine Invitational.

In the first contest, Siena (3-6) had to come from behind, trailing 5-1 after the first quarter. Lea Allen scored a goal in each frame and Siena tallied 10 of the final 11 goals to take the eventual 14-7 win over Gannon.

Siena shot .500 percent on the day and Melanie Boehrig held an impressive display of five steals and five assists while scoring three in the win.

After surrendering five goals in the first quarter, Madeline Hurley recorded ten saves, and helped on the offensive side with three assists and three steals.

Rebecca Robinson also collected a hat trick while also recording an assist.

In the nightcap, No. 18 Michigan scored the first 11 goals of the contest, en route to the 17-2 victory. Allen added a goal for the Saints in the loss.

The Saints will continue their play in the invitational tomorrow as they take on Mercyhurst and Notre Dame (OH) starting at 8:00 a.m.
