Box Score

If the first two weeks of Sarah Croutier's collegiate career are any indication of what may lie ahead, the Siena Women's Lacrosse program has a lot to look forward to. The reigning MAAC Rookie of the Week erupted for a career-high five goals, but it wasn't enough as Wagner held off the Saints 12-9 in the Oyster Bay Classic.

Croutier, who has amassed a team-high 18 points in her first four collegiate games, nearly singlehandedly rallied the Saints (1-3). But for a fourth straight game Siena dug itself an early hole and for a third time could not rally all the way back.

Wagner (3-1) scored seven times in the first 17 minutes to take a quick 7-3 lead. But Croutier, who scored four times in the first half, tallied a pair of late goals to pull Siena closer as the Saints trailed 8-5 at the break.

The Saints scored three of the first four second half goals, rallying as close as 9-8 on Croutier's fifth and final tally of the day with 20:28 remaining. Shannon Pfohl made it a 10-9 deficit with 17:52 remaining, but Siena would not score again as the Seahawks added two late insurance tallies for the win.

Annie O'Connor and Jessica Mills led Wagner with six points apiece, while Katie Ferraro played the final 17:52 in goal stopping all six shots she faced to fend off the Saints.

Four other Saints each scored a goal apiece, complimenting Croutier's five-goal performance. Katie Maguire tallied a goal and an assist and picked up a team-high five groundballs.

Defensively, Chrissy Primo and Morgan Will each caused three turnovers and Julia Sirianni and Lauren Smith each won four draw controls. Freshman Ashley Holdridge was again solid in reserve, playing the second half in goal and registering five saves.

The Saints continue their season long five-game road trip Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at Central Connecticut.
