April 10, 2013

Box Score

Tori Quinn and Lindsey Morgan scored five points apiece, pacing two-time defending MAAC Champion Canisius to a 13-3 win over Siena Women's Lacrosse Wednesday night in Buffalo. Senior captain Katie Maguire scored twice for the Saints, extending her point scoring streak to 26 games.

The preseason favorite to repeat as MAAC Champions, Canisius (10-3, 4-0) scored seven unanswered goals in the first half to blow the game open. The Golden Griffins out-shot Siena (2-10, 1-2) 22-12 and the Saints committed 20 turnovers.

Maguire was a bright spot once again for the Saints, posting her fifth straight multi-goal game and eighth of the season. Both of her goals came on free-position tallies, giving her 11 on the season out of her 22 scores.

The conference's leading scorer, Quinn scored on all four shots she took. MAAC Preseason Player of the Year Morgan Leonard added four goals for red-hot Canisius which won its eighth in a row and fifth straight by double digits.

Sarah Croutier accounted for the other Siena goal and Julia Sirianni - who leads the MAAC in draw controls - won a game-high four for the Saints.

Siena continues its three-game road trip Saturday night at Manhattan. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. from Riverdale, N.Y.
