Siena scored five of the final six goals but it was not nearly enough to overcome Manhattan which defeated the Saints 11-7 Saturday night in Riverdale. Katie Maguire was impressive again in a losing effort, posting her sixth straight multi-goal game.
Manhattan (4-10, 1-3) scored the first four goals of the game and led 6-2 at the half. The Jaspers held a comfortable 10-2 advantage midway through the second half before the Saints (2-11, 1-3) narrowed the final margin.
Maguire, who extended her point scoring streak to 27 consecutive games, tallied a hat trick and finished with game-highs of four points, five groundballs and two caused turnovers. Kaitlyn Angerman added three points on two goals and an assist and Ashley Holdridge made nine saves.
Manhattan received a balanced scoring attack as eight different players scored goals and 10 recorded points. Christina Fiorinelli made seven saves and added three groundballs for the Jaspers which snapped a five-game losing streak.
The Saints conclude their three-game road trip next Saturday at Iona at 1 p.m.
