Oct. 18, 2014 Final Stats
Siena made quick work of visiting Saint Peter's Saturday in the ARC even with Preseason All-MAAC selection Jacqueline Skeen watching for the bench. The balanced Saints got 10 kills from Meghann Wright, nine from Samantha Pethokoukis and eight from Christina Monroe in a 3-0 (25-18, 25-11, 25-21) sweep of the Peacocks.
Skeen sat out with a minor hand injury, but the Saints still dominated the action at the net.
Pethokoukis and Monroe combined for 17 kills and were involved in 15 of the team's 17 blocks. Saint Peter's had just five team blocks and hit .000 for the match.
Siena trailed 17-15 in the first set before libero Bobbi Lin Kalama served eight straight points in a 9-0 run that turned the tide of the match. The Saints rolled to a 25-11 win in the second set and held off a late Saint Peter's charge in a 25-21 set three victory to seal the outcome.
Haley Howell assisted on all 37 of Siena's kills, and Kalama led all players with 12 digs, marking the eight straight MAAC contest she has posted match-high digs.
Amanda Colombo led the Peacocks with seven kills and 11 digs.
Siena kept Saint Peter's off balance with its aggressive service. September's Student Athlete of the Month Erin Bies had four of the Saints' eight aces. Kiara Pierre added two.
The action figures to be much more heated tomorrow when contender Rider comes to the ARC. First serve is slated for 1 p.m.
