The Siena Water Polo team opened MAAC conference play this weekend as they traveled to Villanova, Pa. to face Wagner in the morning and Villanova in the afternoon. Wagner, ranked 19th in the nation, defeated the Saints 16-4 and Villanova won a close 13-12 game.

The first match was a turnover-laden match against Wagner, last season's regular season MAAC Champions. The Saints had game high 21 turnovers against Wagner as the Seahawks took advantage and defeated the Saints 16-4.

Stephanie Bundas led the way in both games, tallying seven goals in two games. Bundas scored two of her goals against Wagner. Joing Bundas, Melanie Boehrig found the back of the cage and Samantha Voelker scored in the first quarter.

In the second match, the Saints bounced back nicely, however the result was the same. Host school Villanova defeated Siena 13-12.

Stephanie Bundas and Jacqueline Verdon control the pace offensively for Siena. The two combined for a total of nine goals (Bundas -5, Verdon - 4). The improved play against Villanova wasn't enough as the Saints dropped the second game of the day 13-12.

Madeline Hurley started in goal against Villanova and Wagner, recording a total of 18 saves in the two games with four assists and two steals. Carly Jackson-Clark saw time in the cage in the third against Wagner, tallying five saves and Sarah Abbott played the fourth quarter with four saves.
